Dream Thought #134 : You have to break rules

“Sometimes you have to break rules to get what you need. Although I do feel that it’s also important that you know the rules before you break them.”

Friday Summer

Happy Friday, my friends. I know all over everyone is celebrating Autumn. I have been to with putting up new decorations for Autumn. It is still Summer till September 23rd, which is the Autumn Equinox. I am in the spirit of Diahann and want to have fun on this last Summer Friday.

I hope you all had a wonderful Summer. On YouTube, I found this beautiful song, Romantic Island, by the Taiwanese artist Ocean Ou. It is I believe sung in Chinese, and the vibe is beautiful. I feel you all enjoy it. Take a listen. Here are the english lyrics
When the captain dropped the bottle from the boat The white sea spray is the blessing to our champagne Looking at you and your sunglasses smile at me The blue ocean bring out the moving melody Romantic Island you are the most beautiful mermaid Every shell contains your touching love song Your lips are my Long Island Iced Tea The romantic island only rain of petals all year round Sunrise and sunset are all celebrations for you I want you to stay in my arms The world's messages are broken I don't feel pity We could spend a lifetime of honeymoon vacation Romantic Island you are the most beautiful mermaid Every shell contains your touching love song Your lips are my Long Island Iced Tea The romantic island only rain of petals all year round Sunrise and sunset are all celebrations for you I want you to stay in my arms

Manifest Monday: Money Affirmation Video

Happy Manifest Monday. I haven't been able to blog as much as which all the different projects I am doing. I love SwanofDreamers, so I do my best to at least blog once a week. I found this wonderful video that is about Money Affirmations.

What I love about this video is geared for Black Women to get use to luxury. Growing up in a middle class background, the women in my family especially my mom and gram believed in always having the best in life. This isn't a foreign concept for me. I do love affirmations and this video is filled with beautiful images of sistahs. Even if you aren't African American woman, you can enjoy the video.

I like to think I am channeling the wondrous Diahann Carroll listening to this video. I  always think of her like my on-screen glam mom. Enjoy.

Happy Friday, my friends. We only have a few more days until Winter begins on the 21st. I always look forward to Winter since I am a winter baby!! With everything going on in the world, there are still pockets of love and happiness. You just have to look for it.

I found this beautiful gem while I was on you tube. It is perfect for the upcoming season. It is Let it Snow sung by Johnny Mathis and my favorite, the late Diahann Carroll. It has a beautiful romantic feel to it. Enjoy.

Miss Diahann Carroll

To kick of Black History Month is the late and great Diahann Carroll.
I still miss her. She is one of my Golden 11 ladies of Black Actresses
who have been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. Only
Halle Berry has won.

Here she is singing Quiet Nights. Enjoy

Farewell Diahann

I was so sad to hear about the passing of Diahann Carroll. She has
been one of my favorite actresses since I was a little girl. She is from
The Bronx like me; only a year older than my mom. I always
thought of Diahann as my glamorous other mother.

Her famous show Julia, showed her as a R.N. raising her only child.
The show exactly mirrored my mom. She too was a single mom and
a registered Nurse raising me.

She always exuded an innate elegance and glamour. Something she
had to fight to get more juicy roles such as Claudine or Elzora.
That glamour fit her like a glove for Dominique Deveraux in Dynasty.
Fun fact, I like to imagine myself on Dynasty as her daughter. One of
my lifelong goals was if I ever had a choice who would play my mom
and dad, I cast her and Billy Dee Williams. Sadly, that will never happen now.

I am happy to know we have all her amazing work on television
and film that will live on. This beautiful trailblazing Tony, Golden
Globe Winner and Oscar Nominee for Best Actress will live on
in her family, our hearts and in her performances.

If you like to read more of my thoughts on Diahann go here.
One of my favorite movies she of her is Paris Blues. She costarred
with Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward and Sidney Poitier. Who she
was in love with at the time too!!

Bless you Diahann always. Here she is talking about how she got
cast on Dynasty.  A reminder how we always have to take control of our careers!
