Lammas

🐇🐇. Happy August and Happy Lammas, my friends. August is packed this month with those oh so dog days of Summer, a lunar and a solar eclipse.

Personally, I have been feeling very vulnerable lately. First, I resisted my feelings. Then I decided to just feel and be. What is the alternative? To bury my feelings. No, that doesn't work. Sometimes things build up, you have to let your feelings out. Kind of like beautiful wild horses that have been pent up. Wild horses need to roam free. Our emotions need to be free too.

This picture was inspired by letting my vulnerability out.



Whatever you are feeling today? Let it out. Express yourself. Say to yourself like in the picture: I'm all in.

Blue Sky weekend

Last night, I danced and remembered my friend, Sean under the Honey Moon. He loved Bananarama, so I played four of their songs in honor of him. I am sure he got a big kick out of it. I hope all of you had enjoyed the Full Moon last night. If you missed her, just know all that good energy hangs around for two more days before Lady Moon begins to wane.

It was truly a blue sky and sunshine weekend. Here in New York it has been rainy since June started and more is coming this week! I went to City Island for their annual fair with Lady A. If you ever come to The Bronx, you must go to City Island. It's like a nautical village in The Bronx. One of the many reasons I love my borough.

I took pictures. In all the fun, I forgot to take pictures of Lady A. and I. Oops. Next time.

Now, Shell is on a serious budget. There was so much great art, jewelry and clothes at the fair to be had. Finally, I was mesmerized by this painting. So I had to get it. This is called Nature's Dance by the talented Jo-Ann Thompson Claybourne. My new painting hangs proudly in my bedroom. I took a picture of the actual framed painting. The original picture on Jo-Ann's website captures the colors better than my camera can.

Here's a big toast to all of you for a fab week. Hopefully this week I can do another video blog which I haven't done in a while.

The first thing you see when you come to Swanofdreamers is all the colors and the pictures. I do my best to have my blog to reflect me as accurately as possible. In my bedroom, on one of my walls there are pictures and quotes. It is my inspiration wall to keep me focused and motivated. So that's where the idea of all the pictures here came from.

Carmen my new blog friend asked me where I got the dolphin that is jumping up on the right side of the page. I wanted to share the answer with all of you. After I write my blog posts, I always take a happy trip to Glitter Graphics. They are chock full of pictures, texts, layouts and gifs, etc. I search around till I find the right picture I need for my post. This is a warning. You can spend way too much time over there which I do frequently. Now, stop reading and go on over. I'll be here when you get back to finish the rest of my post. Let me all know what you think of the place. Glitter Graphics never disappoints. I always find what I need.

Little Glimpses

The best thing about being a blogger is all the wonderful people I have met and became friends with on-line. I feel that whatever art you do, we should all support one another. Since I don't have cash to spend, I figure I can do the next thing.

One of my favorite ladies online Mystele is holding a giveaway on her blog called Little Glimpses. She is a self-taught folk artist. She makes heavenly angels and little girls among other artwork. So go on over and show Mystele some love. You will not be disappointed at all.

Finally, I figured out how to put a link with a person's name. Took me what five months to get that. Sometimes I can be a bit slow. Anyway, all you have a wonderful Tuesday!!

The Studio Museum of Harlem

Ali and I went to the Studio Museum of Harlem on Sunday. They kicked off their Target Free Sundays. They had wonderful goodies: free ice cream, water, trail mix and exotic chips. The fun event of the day was receiving a free museum canvas bag then being able to decorate it. They had ribbons, lace, paints, crystals, beads, feathers,etc lined up at tables for you to choose from. A d.j. was spinning music, so you got to jam while doing your bag. I decorated mine with colors of blue, pink and red in pretty feather boas, hearts, feathers and butterflies. All girlie stuff that is so me.
The artwork in the museum is wonderful. Part of their current exhibit is on Kehinde Wiley. His paintings are gorgeous. The men in them are vibrant with color. To me they appeared as if they were going to step out of the paintings. The picture I posted don't do them justice. There are so many more gorgeous paintings, photographs and installations that beg attention your attention. So please take a trip to Harlem and check the museum out. Bring the whole family.
