Happy Mother's Day

Being a Mom is a privilege. I know for some motherhood isn't a path for them. I respect that. For me, I would have missed out on a lot in my life if I didn't have Jake.



Yes, do I miss sleep. Yes, I don't get to sleep as often as I like. Jake always wants to know where I am, what I'm doing and how he can join in.



Being a Mom requires Patience! See how I capitalized the P in Patience. I did that for a reason. You must be patient through the tantrums, the excessive no's, the wanting to play ball for 15 minutes when you are bone tired. You take a deep breath, stay calm and be as kind, loving and patient with your child.



It is so worth it all. When you get frequent hugs, kisses, have your child read to you or ridiculously laugh for no reason. The best part is that I know Jake and I will always be close. That warms my heart. Happy Mother's Day.💝

Happy Tuesday, my friends. I know I have been gone for a minute now. Jake got sick with the flu and an ear virus. Guess who got sick too? Yes, yours truly. I am now better and able to fully enjoy the that Spring is here. I hope you all had a great Full Moon and Easter Sunday. I think this is the first Full Moon post I missed in over a year or more.

So what is happening in your world? I love to hear? March is almost done, April is coming in soon. April is Poetry Month. I'll be back again to share a few favorite poems and perhaps one of my own.

Books and February

Happy February. Here is Jake to say hello and welcome you to this great month. This month is going to be posts dedicated to Black History Month and Romantic Movies. February is also special since it's my mom's birthday month too. Her birthday is this week.



I like to start with sharing a few of Jacob's favorite books. I wanted to search out books of kids that looked like Jake. Thankfully, there are more books for children of all races to read and identify with. These are some of Jake's favorites. If you are looking for books for African American boys around 2-5, here are a great place to start. (They can also be for African American girls too.)

A sweet book for bedtime.


This is one of the first books one of his teachers used to help Jake with his speech. It's a long time favorite.


I've been taking Jake to the library since he was baby. This is a sweet book to encourage that love of books and libraries.


This is a great book to teach our children to love the beautiful shades of blackness we come in.


The classic book by Jack Ezra Keats. Perfect for the Wintertime.

The Pumpkin Prince and All Hallow's Eve

It's that time of year when the veils between the world go thin. I was out on this past Thursday night to help a friend, I could feel the mystical energy of the night. The air was alive in a way that is unique to the closer we get to Halloween.

If your wondering who the Pumpkin Prince is, here he is. Jacob's birthday was the on the 3rd. My longtime readers may know this, not my new ones. Jake due date was Christmas Eve, he came instead in early October. Sean joked he came early because he wanted Halloween candy. So we dubbed him the Pumpkin Prince.

October is very special to me now. Tonight, our little Pumpkin Prince turns into a sweet monster looking for treats. This was taken right before school yesterday. The kids came in costume. I know its so dark. Sunrise wasn't until 7:15 am.He only wore the body part. He hated the head part. Tonight we are taking to him to our local mall that is giving out treats to kids.


I love All Hallow's Eve because it's a time of fantasy and magic interwoven. The deeper meaning of honoring those who have passed and your ancestors resonates deeply with me.I like to light my candles.I look at the list I write of love ones gone and tell each one of them they haven't been forgotten. The sad part is the list get longer every year, that is the way of things. I think of those ancestors names I don't know but whose blood flows in me. I like to acknowledge them too. Say a prayer and be quiet for a while. Listen and be with the magic of All Hallow's Eve.



I can't forget our lovely Jet. Giving a touch of black cat elegance to our All Hallow's Eve post. I'm wishing all a lovely All Hallow's Eve, Halloween, Samhain.

Back to School...

Hi, everyone. I've been quiet on the blog just enjoying the last few days before Jacob went back to school. He is in second year of Pre-K. I know all a lot of parents were celebrating their children going back to school. I miss Jake when he's at school. What can I say I have a lot of fun with my Jake.

This is Jake coming back from his first day of school on the elevator. As soon as he sees the camera, he is ready to smile. Guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!




Can you feel Autumn coming? Though it was 75 degrees, I could feel the nip of Autumn's kiss in the air. The leaves are turning and falling all over the place. Jake loves picking them up.

I will be back with another post on Wednesday. I am thinking up some cool posts for October. It's always been a favorite month with Halloween in it. Jake's birthday is in early October. So the month is extra special to me.

Jake and Jet

Happy Monday, my friends. Hope you had a great weekend. I realize I haven't shared any new pictures of Jacob and our cat, Jet. This past June, Jake had his first moving up ceremony for preschool. He's now starting his second year of Preschool in September. He started school at 3 years old. In NYC, there is a big push for all kids to go to preschool here. Not sure how it is in other states.

This is from Easter weekend at the Carousel in Bryant Park. If you ever in NYC with little ones, go to this French themed carousel in Bryant Park on 42nd Street. It's really nice inexpensive treat for all.





This is two months later at the 150th anniversary of the New York City Firefighters. I Select Firehouses were open to the public. The one near us had an open house. Jake loves Firetrucks, hence we went. I know I shared pictures before on Mother's Day. Here are some more. Here he is as Spiderman Firefighter Jacob.
