Remembering Gail O'Neill

 

Gail O'Neill was one of my favorite models in the late 80's and early 90's. I thought she was beautiful, poised and amazing. Being about a few years older than me, she was the cool older sister I never had.

Rest in peace, Gail. You will be missed.

Farewell Diahann

I was so sad to hear about the passing of Diahann Carroll. She has
been one of my favorite actresses since I was a little girl. She is from
The Bronx like me; only a year older than my mom. I always
thought of Diahann as my glamorous other mother.

Her famous show Julia, showed her as a R.N. raising her only child.
The show exactly mirrored my mom. She too was a single mom and
a registered Nurse raising me.

She always exuded an innate elegance and glamour. Something she
had to fight to get more juicy roles such as Claudine or Elzora.
That glamour fit her like a glove for Dominique Deveraux in Dynasty.
Fun fact, I like to imagine myself on Dynasty as her daughter. One of
my lifelong goals was if I ever had a choice who would play my mom
and dad, I cast her and Billy Dee Williams. Sadly, that will never happen now.

I am happy to know we have all her amazing work on television
and film that will live on. This beautiful trailblazing Tony, Golden
Globe Winner and Oscar Nominee for Best Actress will live on
in her family, our hearts and in her performances.

with Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward and Sidney Poitier. Who she
was in love with at the time too!!

Son of A Preacher Man by Aretha Franklin

Happy Saturday, my friends. I had this blog post ready a few days ahead. As you all know, The Queen of Soul passed away on Thursday at the age of 76.I grew up listening to Aretha Franklin from my mom
She is part of the soundtrack of my childhood. As I listened to her when I was a woman,I could understand why my mom loved her so much.

She sang about love, heartbreak and empowerment. Her voice is truly gifted by the Divine. I am sharing one of my favorite songs by Aretha. Enjoy. I am sure we all had a love in one way or another like Son of a Preacher Man.

Goodbye Margot

There are certain scenes from movies that stamp
into your psyche. I was 9 when my mom took me to
see Superman:The Movie. One of my favorite scenes
in the movie is Lois' interview with Superman. It
does something that is rare today. Two characters
on screen talking and getting to know each other.




With the passing of Margot Kidder,it reminded me
of how much I loved her as Lois Lane. She brought
a similar energy that Carrie Fisher brought to
Princess Leia. Margot had intelligence, moxie and
vulnerability that shined in most of the roles she had.



One of my favorite later roles is when she guest started
on Law and Order: SVU with Chad Lowe. If you never seen
it, well let's stay it an episode that just stays with
you.



Here is this wonderful scene that is full of humor,
akwardness and romance. I do love Lois blue dress.




I like to think that now Margot and Chris can truly fly
together in the sky.

Wordless Wednesday : David Cassidy

For Roger

Last Month, Sir Roger Moore passed away at 89. He was one of my favorites since I was little. He was the "funny" Bond to me. Roger said his Bond was the lover. Indeed he was. His Bond wasn't​ my favorite role of his.


One of the things about Sir Roger he seemed to have witty and laid back approach to life. Whenever I saw him interviewed, he was always the consummate gentleman.



He took any criticism of his portrayal of Bond in style. Saying capriciously "I am the fourth best Bond."; His acting style he said is: My acting range has always been something between the two extremes of “raises left eyebrow” and “raises right eyebrow”. I think Sir Roger may have been harsh on himself. To carry a film series especially as popular as Bond takes a bit more than eyebrow raising!


How I came to truly love Roger is from watching him on the weekends as Simon Templar in The Saint. By the time I watched the series with my mom, it had been in reruns for years.


Nothing was better than watching Roger being all handsome, suave and saving the day as The Saint. If you have never seen The Saint, you should try to find it. I am sure it his portrayal in The Saint that led to Bond.

I'm​ always sad when an actor I likes passes on. I do wish I had the opportunity to meet him. We would have drinks, sat out on the Riveria and talk about life. I would of told him that be may be Bond to many, to me he will always be The Saint to me. Rest in peace, Sir Roger.
