St. Dymphna

 Blessings to one of my favorite saints: St. Dymphna. She is the patron saint of those who need help dealing with mental health issues and sexual abuse. On her feast day, I like to share my love for this kind and loving saint.

She is a catholic saint. Though I am not catholic, I have found her still kind and open to working with me. I feel as long as you have a need and a good heart, she will come to you. Thank you St, Dymphna for all that you have done for me.

As always on the feast day of my favorite, St. Dymphna (DIMF-nah), I pay tribute to this most generous and kind saint. If you struggle with any mental illness, anxiety, depression and sexual abuse, call on her to help you. I find her warm energy comforting.

St. Dymphna

Happy Feast of St.Dmyphna day. If you are a long time
reader here, you know I always honor St.Dymphna on her
day. As I have written before, she is a kind and gentle
Saint. I have found her a great help to me since I was
a teenager.



For those who have mental afflictions of any kind,
anxiety and been sexually abused, St.Dymphna is here to
give you assistance.

The Feast Day of St. Dymphna

Today is the feast day of St. Dymphna. She is the partron saint for people with anxiety, depression, emotional pain, mental illness and sexual abuse. I have several of her medals and prayers that I use when I feel anxious or deeply upset.

I just lit my St. Dymphna candle from her national shrine in Ohio.


I don't feel that Saint Dymphna cares what religious faith you come from, only that you come to her with a true need and wish to be helped. Her energy to me is, as I have written before, is gentle and kind.

Happy Friday. Today is the feast of St. Dymphna. She is one of my favorite Saints. Though not as well known as more famous Saints, she is a kind and loving Saint.

She is the patron Saint of those suffering from mental illness, nervous disorders and sexual abuse.

Since my twenties, I have called on St. Dymphna whenever I felt overwhelmed or stressed. She always comes to my aid. If you like to know more about her, go here.You can also pray to St. Dymphna herself and she will reveal herself to you.

I have to add, I was not raised in the Catholic faith. I have worked with St. Dymphna, I feel she welcomes all those who have need of her assistance.

St. Dymphna

My adoration of St. Dymphna comes from my mom.

Dymphna story began centuries ago. She was a lovely Irish Princess. Her mother died and her father, The King went mad in his grief. One day, he realized that Dymphna was the exact image of his wife and wanted to marry her. Dymphna distraught went to the local priest for help. The two fled Ireland. Her father hunted them down. When they were caught, he threatned to behead her and the priest. If she married him, he would spare them both. She refused. Her father killed them both on the spot. Where she was buried in Gheel, Belgium, miracles and healings happened. In the 7th century, she was made a Saint.

She is the patron saint of anyone suffering from any mental issues including anxiety, depression. Starting from my late teens, whenever I had a difficult situation to deal with it I wear her medallion. It was and still is comforting.

In recent years, I have learned you can call on her if you have been sexually abused.

There are many prayers attributed to her. For me, I simply talk to her like an old friend. St. Dymphna is kind and gentle. She always comes to my aid when I need her.

I honor St. Dymphna today by sharing her story with all of you.

St. Dymphna

By nature, I am more spiritual than religious. I do share my love of different Catholic saints from my mom though we are both Espicopalian. One of my favorite is St. Dymphna. When I was 18, my mom gave me a St. Dymphna medalion that she would wear when she had troubles on her mind. After that I adopted her as my own personal Saint.

Dymphna was an Irish princess in the 7th Century. After her mother's death, The King, her father, wanted to marry Dymphna since she was the spitting image of her mother. Dymphna with a priest fled the country. Her father in his madness pursued her. He found her in the village of Gheel in Belgium. She refused to give in to his demands. She and her priest were beheaded.

I know it's awful story. Soon after her death, where Dymphna's body was buried became known as a place for healing of people distressed emotionally and mentally.

Today is her feast day. She is the patron saint of mentally ill, emotionally afflicted, runaways, rape survivors, incest victims.

Today, I have on her medallion to honor her. When I have troubles on my mind, I like to pray to her for guidance.

I wanted to share my patron Saint with all of you. Even if your are a totally different faith, I feel Dymphna hears all and responds. Have a Blessed Thursday.
