June 27th - Somewhere in Time Day

Happy Monday, my friends. Today is a very special post for me. For my long time readers, you know how much I love Somewhere in Time. My love of Somewhere in Time goes back to when I was 11yrs old. Mix Christopher Reeve plus Romance, and my 11 year old Dreamy heart was forever changed. I still love this movie, decades later. I decided about a year ago to celebrate June 27th, the day Richard Collier(Christopher Reeve) goes back in time to meet Elise McKenna (Jane Seymour)

The premise of the film is simple:Richard Collier (Christopher Reeve) finds a picture of an actress, Elise McKenna (Jane Seymour) in a grand hotel. He falls in love with the picture and becomes obsessed with finding a way to go back in time to be with her.The back story of how Somewhere in Time was written, it was originally a novel called Bid Time Return, is just as alluring as the film.

Richard Matheson who wrote many of my favorite episodes of the Twilight Zone, along with the books: I am Legend, What Dreams May Come, Bid Time Return aka Somewhere in Time. He had found a picture of an actress named Maude Adams. He was smitten by her picture. He fantasized what it would be like to meet her.

This is the lovely Maude Adams. She was an actress. She is best known for originating Peter Pan on Broadway.

Knowing this back story makes, for me, gives the film a lovely deeper connection. Richard and Elise, in a sense are real people. Stand ins for the real Richard and Maude Adams. Maude died in 1952, I'm sure she would have been enchanted to know her picture inspired a beautiful movie.

The deeper message for me in Somewhere in Time is this:

I love this picture of Jane Seymour who went back in 2015 to Mackinac Island, where the film was shot, to celebrate the film.

Every year, there is a Somewhere in Time weekend. One year, I am going and will dress in costume.

Here is how I celebrated last year here

This is a pivot scene where Richard and Elise meet for the second time:

Thank you for sharing this special day for me. If you have never seen Somewhere in Time, it is must see for all of my Romantic movie lovers out there. Wishing you all a wonderful Monday.

Happy Faerie Day

Happy Faerie Day, my friends. What is interesting about this date it is also the Feast of St.John the Baptist. In some books I've read, this day was celebrated as Midsummer. I love when dates have layers of interesting lore and celebration tied to it.

Do you believe in Faeries? I do. My personal belief is a lot of creatures that have been regulated to myths are real. Besides, it's best not to offend any local Faeries, where I live, by not believing in them. Have I ever seen a Faerie? Not yet. Perhaps, one day.

I have a sweet pink candle burning now dressed with a sun oil and dried roses on the top. I lit the candle for Love and Dreams coming true.

Isn't that what the best of Faeries mean to so many people. Our Faerie Tale stories abound with Love and Dreams coming true. Spend time today celebrating all the Love around you. Celebrate all the great dreams that have come true; savor the feeling of Dreams you still have coming true for you very soon.

Wishing you all a Faerie kissed weekend.
P.S. Please come back on Monday for My Somewhere in Time Day celebration.

Summer Solstice and The Full Moon

Happy Summer Solstice. Today marks the longest day of the year, the beginning of Summer by the calendar and the sign Cancer begins to.

We have fire and water energy swirling all around us.

This beautiful lady that I got from dollar tree is my own personal Goddess of Summer. I gave her the name Hokulani which means in Hawaiian: Divine Star. I put Hokulani on my wall to remind me for this Summer to have fun, feel free, and dance to my own inner music.

What does Summer mean to you? Do you have any fun plans for Summer?

Here are things to do to welcome Summer:

Get up with the dawn and greet the Sun.

Wear a daisy or a rose in your hair today.

Burn yellow, orange, or blue candles.

Leave a dish with butter or milk for the Faeries.

Make a list of fun events to go to this Summer.

Wear the color blue in your clothes and wear shell jewerly to get that Mermaid/ Merman feel.

Read the young adult book Seven Tears into The Sea by Terri Farley and Seal Island by Kate Brailler. Both delve into stories about Mer people. Perfect for the Summer.

Dive into stories of these African Goddesses connected to mother Ocean: Yemaya, Oshun and Mami Wata.

And to top it off it's The Full Moon in Sagittarius. This Full Moon is better known as The Honeymoon.

All my Sagittarius Moon and Sun babies this is your moon. Sagittarius is the Great Archer in the sky. Use the lively energy of Sagittarius to give a fiery push to your Summer plans. Maybe throw in something that is slightly unlike you. Challenge yourself to grow this Summer. I am challenging myself to increase my exercising to get to a specific weight goal.

It is a jam packed Monday, my friends. Remember the energy of the Full Moon will last into Wednesday. Make it a great Monday and have an amazing start of Summer.

Dreamy Thursday Returns: Cozy Chair nooks

Happy Thursday, my friends. I have decided to bring back for the Summer one of my favorite series I did here on Swan of Dreamers: Dreamy Thursday.

This is what I said back in 2011:

Since Thursday is my favorite day, hence I have created
Dreamy Thursday.

Now, what is Dreamy Thursday? Every Thursday, I'm going
to write about something, someone, place, song, book, clothing,
etc that makes me all super dreamy inside. That feeling of
happiness, zest and nourishment that comes from something
touching your soul.

To kick of Dreamy Thursday again is Cozy Chair Nooks.

When I was a kid, my mom had a deep brown recliner chair with footstool that I love to sit and read books in. The chair sat in our foyer; I always felt warm and happy there. When I grew up, I got my own version with a romantic feel to it.

My club chair that I got from Ethan Allen has its lovely spring fabric now faded. (I need to get it reupholstered). I cover it now with a lovely quilt that I got from Marshall's and a beautiful quilt my mother-in-law made for Jake. The chair has a lived in feeling. I love to sit there to read, look at the moon, do readings and plan for the future.

Here are a few Pinterest versions of a Cozy Chair nook.

A Cozy Chair Nook is just for you. Others can sit there. It radiates with your energy.

It says this is my space to be.

After a long day, a chair nook is a welcome friend.

You don't have one yourself? Make one, all you need is a Cozy chair, a nice nook in your home to put the chair at and yourself. You are all set.

I hope you enjoyed this return to Dreamy Thursday. Have a great Thursday.

This space is for healing....

This weekend bullets, hate and madness has been front and center in the news. I watched a mother on TV crying about her son. She had no idea whether he is alive or not. It hurt my heart to see that.

I pray today for all the parents out there who have lost their children to violence. No parent should have to bury their child. I pray for those who have been victims of all the ugly isms in our world. I pray for those who wish to harm others to turn away from the hate in their hearts. I pray for all of us who wake up every day and do their best to stay in the light .

Love to you all.

Make Mondays Marvelous

Happy Monday, Friends!!

Mondays can be a drag whether you work at home, at an office, a sahm, a student, unemployed looking for work or newly retired. Let's put the fun back on Mondays.

Here are five ways to make Mondays marvelous

1) Take Mondays to plan your week only. Don't make any appointments or errands to do on Monday.

2) Plan something fun to do on Mondays: go to the movies, try a new cafe, wear your most favorite outfit in the world.

3) Do one self pampering thing for yourself: facial, a long bath, spending 30 minutes listening to music.

4) Whenever you meet someone with Monday blues, be a happy I love Mondays ambassador. Be a cheerful light for others.

5) Ignore all the steps above and do whatever you wish to do!! Make Mondays your Freeday. Let yourself feel free to do whatever you want to do.

I have done all of these things to make Mondays good for me. If you have any tips on how to make Mondays better, leave that in the comments below.

June

Happy June, my friends. Last week here in The Bronx, it went from a cool 40's to a sizzling 85. Still, it is beautiful to be able to walk outside under sunshine and blue skies without a jacket.

May was extremely busy and at times, very stressful. I am looking forward to June. Feeling the hard lessons of May will blossom into beautiful manifestations in June. I hope for all of you this month will be as bright and sunshiny as a June Day.

"It is the month of June,
The month of leaves and roses,
When pleasant sights salute the eyes
And pleasant scents the noses."
- Nathaniel Parker Willis, The Month of June
