June 27th: Somewhere in Time Day

Hello, my friends. Somewhere in Time is one of my favorite movies. If you are longtime reader here, then you may know my love for this wonderful romantic gem. Today June 27th is the day Christopher Reeve's character Richard Collier goes back in time to meet Elise McKenna, played by Jane Seymour, in 1912.

For me, Christopher and Jane are in my top favorite screen couples. They both radiate together on the screen. I first saw Somewhere in Time on HBO, back in the day, at 11 and I was transfixed. Since then I have watched it countless times. Christopher Reeve for me is still one of my favorites.

Here is his second meeting with Elise. Though his first time in 1912. If that doesn't make sense to you, go watch Somewhere in Time. You can watch it on Netflix and on YouTube. Enjoy.

Dream Thought #77: Life is Art

I think everything in life is art. What you do. How you dress. The way you love someone, and how you talk. Your smile and your personality. What you believe in, and all your dreams. The way you drink your tea. How you decorate your home. Or party. Your grocery list. The food you make. How your writing looks. And the way you feel. Life is art.”

This space is for Peace and Healing

I hope you all had a great weekend and First day of Summer.

I am dedicating this post for peace and healing. Whatever time, day, or season you get to this post, I ask that you pray along with me. I pray for all those who have been brutalized, bullied and killed because of their race, their gender, their religion, their class, their culture, their age. I pray that people realize words and thoughts are powerful. Words and thoughts full of hatred and fear spawn atrocious acts from these twisted roots. I pray that people still continue to be the light when their world may be plunged in darkness. I pray for Peace and Healing for all including myself.

May Kwan Yin bless this post with love and peace as well. Blessed Be, my friends.

Summer is Here!

Happy Summer Solstice, my friends. Summer is finally here. Are you a Heliophilia? I am. It is a person who has desire to stay in the sun;Lover of Sunlight. Of course, stay safe in the sun and wear sunscreen.

It seemed at first if we have a gray day, now the sun and blue skies are shinning through. Yay!☺

Even if it's a rainy or cloudy day on this first day of Summer, you can still have that Summer feeling. Think back to one of your favorite summer memories. One of my favorite memories is the july when I was 12. I went for a month to this great day camp at a local state park.I got to swim, play, run and bask in the sun. There was a camp counselor named Miguel. He was 16 and so cute. I had the biggest crush on him. I think now looking back he was a little sweet on me too. Miguel would endlessly tease and talk to me. When my month ended, I was so sad. There is a great footnote to this story.

Many years later, as an adult, I on was the subway going to work. Someone called my name, and I looked up and it was Miguel! He still looked the same. I had, of course, never forgotten him and it made my day to know he still remembered me.

Here is a short visualization to tune into that Summer energy. Close your eyes. Imagine it is an ideal Summer day for you. You can be anywhere in the world you wish. For me, it is being in a meadow of wildflowers. Lay down in your ideal place is. You have on your favorite piece of clothing in the world. Your feet are bare. The sun is directly overhead. Now, all that is left is to bask in the summer sun. Let all your cares and worries slip away. Feel the sun on your skin, smell the sweet air of Summer, and become one with the sunlight. You can stay here as long and as short as you wish. When you are ready, open your eyes.

Also, Happy Father's Day to all the Fathers out there especially my husband, Sean.

May this First day of Summer and the longest day of the year brings you joy, beauty and happiness. I hope you all have enjoyed my weekend posts in celebration of The Summer and The Summer Solstice. Let's make it a great Summer, everyone.

Midsummer's Eve

"A splendid Midsummer shone over England: skies so pure, suns so radiant as were then seen in long succession, seldom favour even singly, our wave-girt land. It was as if a band of Italian days had come from the South, like a flock of glorious passenger birds, and lighted to rest them on the cliffs of Albion. The hay was all got in; the fields round Thornfield were green and shorn; the roads white and baked; the trees were in their dark prime; hedge and wood, full-leaved and deeply tinted, contrasted well with the sunny hue of the cleared meadows between."
Jane Eyre, Chapter 23 by Charlotte Bronte

I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine.”
― William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night's Dream

The Faeries will be out tonight and tomorrow, be on your toes. If a too handsome stranger begs a kiss from you, he may not be all that he seems. Speaking of handsome, here is one of my favorites, Jensen Ackles singing Wild Mountain Thyme. Which is perfect for this Midsummer's Eve. I found this song two weeks ago and have been playing it nonstop. Enjoy.

Summer is almost here....

In honor of the Summer Solstice on Sunday, I am going to be posting all weekend. The sun is reaching his strength and glory at this time.It is truly the longest day of the year.

You can celebrate the first day of Summer by:

* You can celebrate with yummy lemon pound cake, lemon creme cupcakes, homemade lemonade.
* Buy sunflowers, yellow daises, yellow roses. You can also decorate with flowers in orange. Or any local summer flowers you adore.
* Burn yellow and orange candles.
* Put up suncatchers or any pictures that have a sun theme.
* Make a Summer vow to yourself of one exciting adventure you are going to do for you. Make it something fun and bold like the Sun.
* Going to the Beach or anyplace near the water.
* Adorn yourself with flowers or flower prints in clothing.
* Get up to greet the Summer Sun.

To go along with this Sun theme. Here is a beautiful song called I am Light by the one and only, India Arie. Be Light, my friends.

Ocean dreams

“For whatever we lose (like a you or a me),It's always our self we find in the sea.” - E.E. Cummings.

I love the Ocean and haven't made a trip to Mama Ocean in a while. One of my favorite places to go is Atlantic City in NJ. Hop on the Ac bus and be there in no time. Sure I love the bells and whistles of gambling and the buffets in the casinos, it's the Ocean I truly adore. Longing to get back there. That is one of my Summer's vow to get back to the Ocean. Smell the Ocean air, pick sea shells, put my feet in the brown sand. Being on the shore at AC, is like looking out to forever.

See you right back here on Friday.

Be Responsible for your own Energy

Happy Monday, my friends. Here is the deal. Whatever life brings your way, you are ultimately in charge of your energy. If someone upsets you or bring you bad news, it is fine to cry and be angry. Don't allow yourself to stay in that state for a long time. You don't have to give crap to others because someone crapped on you. Rise above it and be true to yourself. Be the light for others. Be the light for yourself.

A Memory of June

Happy Friday, my friends. A romantic interlude for your Friday.

A Memory Of June by Claude McKay

When June comes dancing o'er the death of May,
With scarlet roses tinting her green breast,
And mating thrushes ushering in her day,
And Earth on tiptoe for her golden guest,

I always see the evening when we met--
The first of June baptized in tender rain--
And walked home through the wide streets, gleaming wet,
Arms locked, our warm flesh pulsing with love's pain.

I always see the cheerful little room,
And in the corner, fresh and white, the bed,
Sweet scented with a delicate perfume,
Wherein for one night only we were wed;

Where in the starlit stillness we lay mute,
And heard the whispering showers all night long,
And your brown burning body was a lute
Whereon my passion played his fevered song.

When June comes dancing o'er the death of May,
With scarlet roses staining her fair feet,
My soul takes leave of me to sing all day
A love so fugitive and so complete.

Romantic Vignette #13: Night and Day

It is a starry night. You are alone on a balcony looking up at the sky. This song comes on: Night and Day sung by Maxine Sullivan. You think of that one special person who fills your heart with joy. You wish the person was here now. You feel a touch on your arm. You turn around and the person is there. How? Why? Doesn't matter, all that matters is now you dance in their arms.

Dancing with the Waning Moon

Happy Friday, my friends. I always talk about Full Moons and sometimes the New Moons. There is another phase of the moon to tap into as well. When the moon appears to be shrinking before our eyes to begin her cycle again, Is this wasted energy? Oh no, this digs into something deeper. The waning moon is a rich time to work on releasing and banishing negativity in all forms in your life.

Now is the a great time to begin:
Weight release program
To begin sober living for yourself.
Cutting out junk food.
Leaving a bad relationship or job.
Fortifying yourself against negative influences.
Getting rid of poverty mentality.

You can burn candles in a variety of colors such as : gray, silver, orange, red, white. Black is always a nobrainer. Black candles ,for me ,I like to use sparingly. Wear colors that resonate strength for you. Use your favorite prayers, poems or quotes as personal mantras to use as a shield, inspiration and extra boost of energy as you let go of things, people, events in your life.

Waning Moon energy is a great time for self discovery. Use it to clean house within and without, by the new moon you will be ready to create new and exciting things in your life.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

The Rose Full Moon

The misty night covers the moon tonight. I know high above the clouds she glows brightly. If you can see her tonight, bask in her light.

This moon has many names. When I found one of the names is The Rose Moon it felt right. I adore roses. I have pink flowers in the bedroom with a strawberry candle glowing.

All my Sagittarius ,sun and moon babies, this is your special moon. As we celebrate this last Spring Moon, think like the archer of Sagittarius. Has your aim reaching your goals this spring been successful? What dreams do you have for your Summer?

As always celebrate in whatever way feeds your soul under the Rose Moon. I'm wishing you all a wonderful Full Moon.

Happy June

Happy June, my friends. It is a very misty rainy day in The Bronx. I always say the flowers and our reservoirs need the rain. As you all know, I love Rainy days.

June is named after the the Roman Goddess Juno. She is the goddess of marriage, pregnancy, childbirth, children and family. A warm hearted and loving Goddess. This is a great time to take stock of your family life. Do you need to reconnect more? Plan a family get together? If you have a child like me, think of fun and education things to do with your child. If you are in a committed relationship, is it time to take the next step to marriage? Or bring more free time and adventure to your marriage and/or committed relationship. I'm sure Juno can bring wealth of ideas to you.

It is also the birthday of this famous lady.

Marilyn would have been 88 today if she was still alive. I always had a soft spot for Marilyn. I am sure that is the reason I like pictures of Marilyn where she appears fresh faced. I think it shows the girl who was Norma Jean that still lives in her Marilyn Monroe persona.

Come back tomorrow for the Full Moon post. Have a great Monday.
