East Side, West Side

Happy Thursday, everyone. Last night,
I watched a gem of a movie. Which is
now on my personal remake list.

In East Side, West Side (1949)
Barbara Stanwych plays Jessie Bourne married
to the handsome and loving Brandon
Bourne played by James Mason. They
appear to be a golden couple.

We quickly find out Brandon is now a recovering
playboy husband. Jessie is sure he's now over
his former mistress Isabel played by Ava Gardner.

What happens when Isabel comes back into town? Will
Brandon leave Jessie for Isabel? Or will an unexpected
man come into Jessie's life showing her what love
can be.

Now..I can't tell you all of that. You have to
watch the movie.

East Side, West Side is chock full of stars
including Cyd Charisse and Van Heflin;
characters actors William Conrad
and William Frawley who later gained fame
as Fred Mertz in I Love Lucy.

I have to give a special shout out to Nancy Davis.
Who we all know better as Former First Lady Nancy
Reagan. This is the third movie I've seen her in.
Had no idea she was a good actor!

I recorded the film from TCM. I'm sure it will be shown
again. To me, you can never go wrong with Barbara
Stanwyck as a leading lady in a film!

Of course, here's the trailer. Enjoy.

This is a good movie - and I agree, you can't go wrong with Barbara! Such a nifty, smart, gritty dame!
