Celebrate the Light

'Must be captivated by the light. Always the light. Always."
Christopher Plummer from The Lake House.

It's that time of the year. Where the mad dash for presents,
parties and decorating homes gets turned up to the max.
Before you lose yourself in the madness, go back to the
light.

All the holidays in this season celebrate light in one
form or another. Use this as a guide to get back to
your center and stay grounded.

Here are some ways to celebrate the season and
yourself with light.

1) Savor the sunrise or the sunset. Take time
to watch the sun's movements and how it makes
you feel

2) Buy inexpensive tea light candles. After
sunset, light a candle. You can rub a nice
oil on it as well. I like to use rose oil.
Put it somewhere you can see it. Say a prayer,
share something you thankful or happy
about while you the candle burns.

3) Decorate your bedroom or other parts
of your house with Christmas or what I like
to call faerie lights. Turn them on and
see how your rooms glow.

4) Visualize yourself being in your
favorite sunny place for five minutes.
Feel the sun on your skin, the scents in
the air and the sounds around you.

5) Track the light growing. When the Winter Solstice
comes on Dec 21st it heralds winter's beginning.
Sunlight returns back to us a little bit every
day. Making our days longer again.

I hope these tips can help keep you for a few
moments grounded, present and serene during
the holidays.

Beautiful Shell, thank you for the reminder! I can not wait for the return of the light. I'm thinking of getting fairy lights for my crafts room, might help me work during all this darkness. Thanks for the reminder and enjoy the winter solstice!

We put up our tree today and added some Christmas candles to the mix and, coupled with the light snow we received yesterday evening, I must say, it definitely speaks of the season.

Such lovely thoughts of light and lightness, Shell! For me, there is no madness in Christmas, no stress, no worry. I do what gives me joy and nothing else. Candlelight is definitely one of those things that give me joy and make me smile.
