Love for Patrick
The first time I saw Patrick Swayze was way back in 1985 in the mini-series "North and South." I remember the next day going to school with my head in a buzz with about this seriously cute actor.
So when he made it big in Dirty Dancing, I felt like the public was catching up with what I already knew about him. Patrick had depths to go along with those good looks. I have no shame to admit that along with loving the movie , I also had the soundtrack too. I had the tape. (Yes, this is right before CD's began to get big) I played over and over "She's Like The Wind" that he sang. Imagining he sang it about me.
Out of all his movies, one of my personal favorite Patrick movies has to be To Wong Foo. I like he played against type to play the graceful and elegant Miss Vida.
Now, Patrick is dancing with the angels. Thank you for all the movies you have given us. For me personally, I'll miss you.

Wow. I can't believe this is my 200th post. I use to worry when I first started Swanofdreamers I would run out of things to talk about!...

A very nice tribute...R.I.P.
So wonderful. I loved him as well. Just such a different sort of guy the cowboy/dancer -just something unusual and so so cool. A man VERY secure and willing to share his love of all things graceful.
Thanks for the tribute Sweet Shell. Have a good night and an even better tomorrow.
Love to you today and always!
Dear Shell, I was just reading this article about him, see the link below. He is one of the very few actors I saw as a real person, someone kind and hopeful, always boyish in his honesty and simplicity. I too remember North and South, a friend sent us the VHS tapes - remember those? I also remember all the other films you mentioned. It's odd as Bill Hicks died at age 32 of pancreatic cancer too. He is a light that I pray will never die, just wonderful. I pray the same for Patrick.

Oh wow, I hadn't heard that he died. How very sad. :( Hearing the news from you comforted the blow a bit, rather than learning about it from an impartial reporter. You have a very special way of delivering bad news with love and grace.
I also had the Dirty Dancing soundtrack, in vinyl album format! :) And my best friend and I could pretty much recite the whole movie. :)
Patrick was very brave in his battle with cancer. I heard that he refused painkillers so that he could continue acting. I hope he is at peace now, a beautiful dancing spirit...
Hello Dear Shell,
Beautiful tribute to Patrick. He will surely be missed. Hope you are enjoying a beautiful day my friend.
Smiles...
Beverly
lovely memories and tribute.
I also remember North and South (in fact, somewhere I have the VCR tapes packed away with VCR tapes LOL).
I so love your blog. I came over from Tristan's blog.
I too adored Patrick... he will be missed so much!! :-(
Love,
Marilyn
This is a terrible loss, for his wife-first, then for his extended family and friends, then for Hollywood. He was a great actor and now cancer took his life. Well, life is short and the unexpected does happen!
Shell, I will miss his too. I really liked him a lot. His passing reminds me of when Michael Landon left us. Too soon. Seems God always has his chosen one. Yes, I too am sad. Thank you for your post. Take care.
I'm a bit late to comment on your painting post, but thank you! I needed this! WE've been saying we'll repaint for about two years and I keep looking at the scale of the project and getting seriously overwhelmed and ... never starting. But you've reminded me. I don't have to do it all at once...I just have to start. And keep taking little steps forward.
And on topic... Thank you for the Swayze tribute. I think I've come to know him in reverse; Donnie Darko backwards... but what a great actor.
Indeed,he will be SO missed.
How are you, Shell?
Hello Sweet Shell.....
Thank you for your sincere kindness & friendship.
It means a lot to me!!!
I am still behind & still Always thinking of you.
I made a tribute to Patrick Swayze on my blog. hours after I got the sad news. Broke my heart!!
but took almost 2 days to get it published due to "blocking" me from ONLINE.
Someone(Mr. creepy) keeps blocking me. So my computer and phone get disconnected??? grrrrrrrrrrrrr
Long story, but this holds me back from doing so much I NEED to get done ~ online :(
So that is where I am at right now. Behind & stressed.
Just wanted you to know why I haven't been around.
One day... hopefully soon. It will all be over.
I hope you are happy, healthy & enjoying life!
((((HUGS))))
Joelle XOXO
