Choose to Believe in yourself

Have you ever had your mom, dad, siblings, close family member or mentor give you "the speech" about your life? That everything your doing is wrong. You need to change your life by giving up on your dreams and passion. I did. I got pummeled yesterday. Each word was like a lashing on my soul. I know it was done out of love. Love isn't what I felt at all.

What did I do? I just sat there and cried. I took it. Because I didn't have the strength to fight back. Because some of those words in my lowest moments I have said myself. My twin comforted me last night with a great phone call full of comfort and inspiration. (BTW, my "twin" is just one of my best friends who looks like me.)

I woke up this morning still bruised and feeling weary. I'm here to you all something. I may be down today but I'm not out. I don't care who it is out there that telling you can't do this or that. That your too old, too young, too fat, too thin, not enough education, too much education to do whatever you wish to do. Screw them!!! We were given gifts and talents for a reason. We are supposed to use them to not only help ourselves but everyone around us.

We are born for a purpose. Even people the closest to us will not understand, approve or support us. You have to accept that and keep on. I know dreams change. That is life. A changing dream is true when it comes from your soul. Not from someone telling you it's time to quit or put is aside!

To all my fellow dreamers I say: I believe in you and your dream. I believe you can make it. I believe you can do what you set out to do.

Here is one of my favorite songs when I was a kid. Ain't No Stopping us Now.

Now, go on today and use some time to work on your dream. Keep going. Believe. I'm right here with you doing the same thing.

Sweet Dreams.

thank you for your words...the truth is in the Creator's hands. be true to how you've been created. that's a key that many people miss, and when truly acknowledged, it points right back to the Source and showers blessings on others. you are lovely. that's the truth whether your dreams look like you want them to or others think they should.

My Dear shell what beautiful and encouraging words. Never stop dreaming my friend, never. I choose daily to believe in myself and know that I am just what my creator had in mind. I think those of us who try so hard to live our dreams are so many times misunderstood. That is really too bad but we cannot live our lives trying to make others understand. I don't have to tell you... But I think those of us who live creative lives are often misunderstood. If only I could count the times I have been told just what I could be doing rather than supporting me in what I was created to do. It takes courage to live your dreams, and it is so sad that many never do so. Continue to live your dreams my friend. Never let go.

Smiles...

Shell I love that video. I'm sorry that your heart is bruised at present. You know what though, I believe in you as all your friends do and nothing can stop you from doing the things you want to do in life. I say, YAY for SHELL! You go get em girl. My thoughts are with you, lift your head and continue doing what you do best, being you.

I believe in you, Shell. It's very hard to be a creative spirit in this world. Some people do not understand that you MUST do what you love or you will shrivel up.
I'm so glad my husband and I gave my daughter 'wings'. I didn't get that growing up.
I know you'll continue to press forward and dream, Shell.
Take care.

What beautiful thoughts. Indeed, dreams are food for the inner spirit. Everyone should do what their hearts say, I think it makes individuals happier, and the sum of these individuals equals a happier society, a happier world.

I believe in you and all your dreams. You can do anything you want. You are too wonderful not to.

It's unfortunate that sometimes people feel the best way to motivate is to tear down. Those voices then become ingrained in our heads and we start doing it to ourselves, and sometimes to others.

Here's to breaking the chains and moving forward in infinite possibility! :)

Yes! Follow your own star! Sorry this happened to you. It actually happened to me too once. I listened and delayed my dream. Don't do that Shell.
Live by your own light. Leaving my love and support here for you.

Sorry to read about your experience Shell. I am glad you have the strength to get over it and the support of your sister. Things done out of love can be the most hurtful. You are such an inspiration to me because of your optimistic, encouraging attitude and your belief in dreams. Keep on dreaming-it will work!

I am a living testimony RE: that speech. I have heard it far too many times. Do not cry; God has ordered our steps. Continue to be patient and persevere.

Hi Shell... your post brought tears to my eyes. I feel for you. I have been there. I have had friends and family members try to crush my dreams, saying I lived in a fantasy world. It hurts not to have the support of the people close to you. But you need to stay strong, stay true to yourself. You CAN make your dreams a reality, and those who say you can't only say that because they don't have dreams as big as yours. I believe in you 1,000,000 percent, Shell!! Never, ever stop following your dreams! As long as you have breath in your lungs, you must follow your heart...or else what's the point of it all?!

Big (HUGE) supportive & loving hugs,
Kiki
