A Long Post on Wednesday

I have been a busy bee these two days doing acting business. I got my headshots retouched and copied. Can you tell the difference between the two?

I can tell right away. The magic of retouching. When you see pictures of your favorite stars, singers, etc in magazines. You say oh how perfect and beautiful they look. Seriously, half of that is the magic of retouching. Don't believe the hype. I got this picture and my other girl next door picture done. I'm happy about my headshots: anticipating to get more calls for work. One of my goals this year is to get a role on Law& Order: Special Victim Unit. It is my favorite of the three Law and Order shows. I auditioned for the casting director of the show last year but didn't get a role. This year I'll get cast in a speaking role on SVU.

Freecycle is the best. I got a book of Emily Dickinson's poetry through a posting of mine. It's been a long time since I read her. Her poetry is beautiful, passionate and economical. I adore how Emily uses a few words to say volumes. For poets of the past, I still want books of poetry on Sappho, H.D. and Keats. I know you can get their work on-line. I love having the feel of actual books in my hands.

I got tagged again this time by Sarah. First before I do my random list. I want to share the lovely dolls she made and sent from England to me. Thank you, Sarah. My pictures really don't do her dolls justice.

I still have yet to name my new friends. Now to random six things about me. This time I'm not tagging anyone since I did it last week. If you want to play along with me, please do.

1) I auditioned for The High School of Performing Arts in New York which the movie Fame is based on. I didn't get in. Ouch, It did blow my confidence. I didn't let it deter me from being an Actor as you can see.

2) I adore the painting Starry Night by Van Gogh. The pictures and posters of it don't do it justice. The first time I saw it at Museum of The Modern Art, I was entranced. I sat there staring at it for ten minutes.

3) I love Peanut Brittle!! The good thick kind.

4) My new favorite movie is Harold and Maude which I saw the first time on Sunday.

5) I love to hug Trees. Seriously.

6) I share the same birthday of the character Dean Winchester on Supernatural.

Ah yes, retouching photos is a wonderful art isn't it? Although I don't see a huge difference, you look fabulous in both!

SVU is the only L&O show I watch, mostly because of Olivia and you have to let us know when you get that role and are on the show. I just know that's going to happen!

Keep the the PMA (positive mental attitude) going! Yes, I will see you on L&O. I was just reading about Jim Carey and how he used visualization to make in Hollywood. Visualize yourself in that role...over and over and over...

You are a star!

Beautiful photo! Glad you got the dolls-I never believe things will actually get there and am always very excited when they do! Thanks for playing along-most interesting! I love starry night too. I once did a copy of it in pastels. But I have never seen it in real life-I would love to. Hope you get a role in that show.
Take care

You have been a buzy bee indeed! Those gorgeous glam photos will bring a typhoon of booking calls, you'll have to get a second line. :)

Ooh damn do I love SVU! It's the only show on TV that I follow. :) I just know you'll get in!

You don't need us to wish you Luck, your talent will fly you there!

Much Joy, Many Blissings~*

Wow what a neat post! You look beautiful Shell, I am sure you will get the part on SVU ~ that would be awesome!!
I love peanut brittle too ~
Emily Dickinson is a favorite of mine ~ especially this poem ~

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

Love your pics. You are beautiful in both!!! So you are an actor. Wow! My husband grew up with Tony Shalub who plays Monk and lots of other characters. The dads were best friends. Hope you get loads of great parts in 2009.
Blessings,
Pam

retouching does enhance the photo. and no matter how many auditions you don't get it don't stop. i made a mistake not getting into my dance team and stopped dancing. i love dancing of all mediums. i did cultural dancing afterwards but if i kept up with the jazz, ballet, and modern i think i could've been really good. it hurts not make it. just keep pushing through.
