I have a little over two months to go till my birthday.I love celebrating birthdays: my own and others. It's the one day of the year, I feel you should really celebrate yourself. I talked about this in an earlier post of mine I want to go to Paris for my birthday. Now, I always like to look at the glass half full, I have to admit the prospect of me getting to Paris is looking dimmer as January 24th gets closer. I want to celebrate my 40th birthday in Paris.
Recently,I've done a lot of letting things I desire go and let the goodness of my creator step in. It is my deepest wish to be able to go to Paris and enjoy my birthday there. If there is a way for this to manifest, I open myself to the possibility of this happening.
Just writing that, I feel better. So is there anyplace any of you want to go for you next Birthday? Do share. I can't be the only one longing to travel to somewhere else.

As for Paris - YES. I didn't even know I wanted to go to Paris but I went for the first time when I was almost 50 and I felt like it completely reset me to "me" after a half century of accumulated life. I don't know if that makes sense but I can't really explain how much it was more than just a trip. There are ways to go on the cheap. You can stay farther out, the metro will still get you to everything in just minutes. You can rent an apt. for a week or two or even just a half week instead of staying in a hotel, much cheaper, especially if you find one through a website that is more for European travelers instead of Americans. Specially cheap if you share with friend or two. Plus then you can then shop at the local places for your bread and cheese and fruit or whatever and eat out only if you want. IF you do eat out, there's plenty of great food without spending a fortune, specially if you avoid the touristy spots. Get a Carte Orange for the week for the best metro price. And even if you don't do anything but wander the streets and places, churches and shops, you will have more experiences than you can possible imagine. You can even time it to get into some of the museums free or at discounted prices. Rodin's garden only costs one euro. There are discounted evening prices for the Louvre. Go off season and you can get cheaper flights. Buy your ticket way ahead for the best price or use Lastminute.com for cheap and quick. We figured out it was actually cheaper to fly into London and take the Eurostar over than to fly straight to Paris. Clearly I could prattle on forever on this subject. GO! If not at 40, then at 41 or 47 or 52. But GO!
I've been dreaming of Italy - the Amalfi coast. I too love Paris and haven't been there since I was a young girl. I'd like to return there too!
It was great to read a couple of comments from you! Thanks for stopping by.
I do hope that the economy reminds people about the true spirit of Christmas. I hope people learn to enjoy the simple things in life.
Happy Thanksgiving! xoxo k
Hi Shell - I dream of going to Paris too! Keep the faith and thank you for coming by to visit my post on my Marie Antoinette Jeweled Christmas Tree ~ xo ~ Joy
