Phryne for Friday

Happy Friday, my fellow dreamers. It is Woman's History Month. I am going to share quotes from my favorite fictional heroines throughout the month.

A woman should dress first and foremost for her own pleasure.
-Phryne Fisher (Essie Davis) from the Phryne Fisher mysteries on Netflix. Based on the Phryne Fisher novels by Kerry Greenwood.

"A woman should dress first and foremost for her own pleasure." I fully agree.

Thank you so much for this post. In spite of being a man-born-male, as opposed to a woman, I can fully appreciate this post.

Also, you are Re-Minding me to FINALLY watch the "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries" on Netflix. And thank you for including Kerry Greenwood's name. I must admit, I had no idea it was based on a series of novels.

I look forward to reading "Death by Misadventure (also known as "Phryne Fisher Series #1)," by Kerry Greenwood, but only after I watch all three series of the television series, on which the Mystery Series of novels is based.

Shell, I cannot thank you enough for turning all of us who read your "Swanofdreamers" blog on to so many great television series, novels, musical artists, etc. You truly have a knack for doing so, and I AM, for one, enjoying that knack!

Well, Shell, I FINALLY began watching "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries" on Netflix.

I can see why you love it! I began watching it yesterday, Tuesday, March 7, 2017, and already at Episode 5 of Series 1.

I especially loved the pilot, and seeing this long, wide, oblong scarf blowing in the wind, and flowing above and behind her, Re-Minded me of the quote from Ms. Fisher herself.

And I can easily see all the reasons why you love this television programme.

I love seeing Phryne on your blog, Shan! This is a series my husband and I have watched on our local public broadcasting system. On one episode, Jack gave Phryne a little swallow brooch which I loved. My husband tracked it down on the internet, in an Australian antique shop, and surprised me with it for Christmas!!

Oh, my Goddess! Shell, thank you, once again, for turning me on to the "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries."

I just finished watching Series 1, and the appropriateness of seeing an image of Essie Davis, who brilliantly portrayed Miss Phryne Fisher in the Series, was even more appropriate for Women's History Month, than I realized.

Indeed, Phryne is a great example of an empowered woman. She lives by her own rules, wears what she wants, has a career that is dominated by men, not to mention carries a handgun, and has as one of her best friends a woman who is a doctor, which was rare, to say the least, in that day and age.

I cannot wait to watch Series 2 and of course, Series 3.

Again, thank you so much for using your Blogspot Blog to tell your followers and readers about some great media content, be it music, television, etc.

And to Judy Hartman, how wonderful that your husband gave you a swallow brooch, identical to the one Jack gave Phryne. That gives me hope that either my life partner/Divine Consort, and/or I shall successfully track down and find that super gorgeous long and wide silk scarf that Phryne was wearing in Series 1, Episode 1.

Happy Birthday David
