Happy Native American Day

Happy Monday and Happy Native American Day. Spend sometime today researching the Native Americans who first lived in your area. Then look into the issues facing Native Americans today. You may be surprised and enlightened simultaneously.

In the Bronx, where I live, the Siwanoy called this home. I honor the Siwanoy today, letting them know they have not been forgotten.

Cherokee Prayer Blessing

May the Warm Winds of Heaven

Blow softly upon your house.

May the Great Spirit

Bless all who enter there.

May your Mocassins

Make happy tracks

in many snows,

and may the Rainbow

Always touch your shoulder.

May the Warm Winds of Heaven

Blow softly upon your house.

May the Great Spirit

Bless all who enter there.

May your Mocassins

Make happy tracks

in many snows,

and may the Rainbow

Always touch your shoulder.
