Spending Spring with Jane
Though the sun is playing peek-a-boo today, I'm still happy that Spring is officially here! This winter has been brutal for me literally and personally. Goodbye, Winter. Hello, SPRING!!!
Big hugs to all of you for your generous words on my video! The next one will be me reading poetry. Look for it next week. I will try my best to make it interesting and not a snooze fest.
Yesterday, I finished reading Sense and Sensibility which I enjoyed. It was so good. Can I tell you how much I loved Colonel Brandon!! He is my favorite man in the whole book. Edward is sweet and as for Willougby.. I have know a man or two like that in my lifetime. (Which I'm not sure is good or bad.) I must confess when I was younger I was like Marianne in the way I viewed love. I have matured quite nicely. I do adore the 1995 S&S starring Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet. While I was reading, scenes from the movie rose up from my memory. Emma deserved the Oscar she won for best screenplay. Yes, Emma was considerably older than Elinor in the book. Still, I feel she captured Elinor's essence. I did miss the recent pbs version of S&S. I'm sure I'll be able to rent it soon. Now, I need advice. What is the next book by Jane Austen should I read? Is there any order to read them in?
Along with spending Spring with Jane, I'm also committing energy to my one woman show project. I've always wanted to do a one woman show since I saw Whoopi's show on HBO back in the day. I may have stumbled on a great idea to do one. I feel I'm mature enough to see it through it now. There is a never dull moment over here at Swanofdreamers! I always have creative ideas and projects that I'm working on in one form or another. I'm sure I'm not the only one like this.
Enjoy the first Friday of Spring wherever you are. As always, Sweet Dreams
PS. I do think it's interesting that Emma married Greg Wise(who played Willoughby in S&S) and they have a child together.

Two days ago, I had a knock on my door. I opened the door to see this most curious woman. She said the pleasure of my company was requested...

Wow. I can't believe this is my 200th post. I use to worry when I first started Swanofdreamers I would run out of things to talk about!...

I'm ashamed to admit I haven't seen the movie or read the books. When I went to school we weren't required to read classics like they do now.So I know I missed out on a lot.I do plan on reading some of the classics I've missed.
I think it would be cooll to do a one woman show and I'm sure ya could pull it off with no problem!
I hope ya enjoying ya day.
Big Hugs~
I don't know if there is a rarified special order that you're supposed to read the book in - but I love "Emma" - and, of course, "Pride and Prejudice."
I know what you mean - I never have enough hours in the day to complete all the projects I have planned!
Enjoy your spring day!
Happy Spring to you too Shell!
I enjoyed Sense and Sensibility but I love Pride and Prejudice! Love it! I have read it a number of times and could do so again. The recent Keira Knightly film was good but the BBC Colin Firth edition is excellent. So read that one next! Am going to watch your video now!
yayy for spring!!!! i'm so excited too :)
happy spring, dear :)
xoxo,
Micaela
I love Spring! I've read Sense and Sensibility and seen the movie and I enjoyed them both. I haven't read any other Jane Austen novels, but plan to very soon. I think I might read "Pride and Prejudice" next. Oh, and you are welcome to adopt "Friday Favorites" anytime!
Hi Shell,
I just dropped by to say hello!!
My computer crashed and all my links were lost. I was visiting a blog and saw you on the comment lol. How have you been doing? Hope all is well and I'll be back to catch up.

i love pride and prejudice. actually, i love all of janes books, persuasion is high up there on my list.
i don't think there's an 'order', but mansfield park is the last complete novel (i think it may have even been published just after she died) and is a bit 'darker' than her other books. emma is a fun read...but i would recommend P&P for your next read....
Hi Shell,
Lots of treats here.
Just saw your video...Cool!!!Good to see and hear you! LOVE
Nat King Cole.

I will send baklava one day! xoxo
Happy Spring to you too, lovely Lady.
I haven't read enough of Jane Austen and I can't remember the one that I did read when I was in college. But I might revisit some of the old classics this summer when I have more time.
I think you would be positively wonderful in a one-woman show. Can't wait for you to get it started.
Have a great weekend, my dear.
Happy Spring to you too Shell and you really have nice a nice blog. Please don't forget to go to my blog and click on my profile so that you can send me your address so that I can mail out your print along with my other blogger buddies. Have a great weekend. Enjoy your print.
First, I love that version of S&S. It always lifts my spirits. I didn't even want to watch the PBS version because Emma Thompson's is so memorable. My next favorite is 'Emma'.
The joy and scourge of a creative mind is having so MANY ideas! I have lists of them! I can never understand people who are bored!
Looking forward to your poetry video!
this is my very favorite movie of all!
Hi Shell, your blog is AWESOME,
and I just love your eclectic
tastes. I enjoyed the movie
Sense & Sensibility, with my best
girl Emma Thompson.
It is fun to read a work my one
author, I'll have to try that
this summer.
Please come by Epiphany when you
have a chance and participate in
