Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas, my friends, to those who celebrate the day.  I'm in the middle of baking Mac and cheese for Christmas Dinner. We are going to have a delicious feast with many other dishes later on. I hope today is finding you happy and healthy.

Here is one of my favorite Christmas songs from the wonderful Nat King Cole. No, it's not The Christmas Song, which I do like too. Its Caroling, Caroling. Always make me feel happy. Enjoy.

Have a wonderful day, my friends.

Winter arrives..

Tonight, Jake and I were getting off the bus. The snow was gently falling and he was entranced. I told him to look up at the lamp post. The yellow light illuminated the snow flakes. They looked like magical sparkles. The delight on his face made my day.

The magic lies in the every day moments. Today being The Winter Solstice heralding Winter's arrival and a new moon in Capricorn make it extra special today.

Spend time today savoring the turn of seasons. Know now the sun will spend each day with us a little longer. There is a quiet beauty of Winter that waits for each of us to embrace.

I am sending you all Happy Winter blessings.

Dream Thought #69: Do it your own way

I hate straight singing. I have to change a tune to my own way of doing it. That's all I know. - Billie Holiday.

How to have Fun

Happy Monday, my friends. Depending on what Mondays mean to you, let's turn it on its head.

Today and everyday, have a bit of fun. Schedule the fun, if you have to! I don't know about all of you, no fun makes me cranky.
Enjoy the sunshine, enjoy the rain. Love all those funky habits and obsessions you have. I know when I decide to have fun and let go, all these great ideas and solutions flow into my mind. Fun=creativity+relaxation.

Have a fun Monday. If having fun today means lying naked in your bed like Dawn French, then do so.  If you have no idea who Dawn French is, I have four words for you. The Vicar of Dibley. Google that and watch it. Then thank me later.

12 for 12

Happy Friday, my friends.  Did you know Friday is linked to water energy? This beautiful Mermaid swims in to remind of this special date of 12/12.

Here are 12 ways to have fun on this special date:

1) Go out for a walk with no destination and get sunshine on your face.

2) Say no to any ridiculous and boring request on your time.

3) Wear something frivolous and pretty just because you want to.

4) Say yes to anything fun and madcap today.

5) Visualize yourself in a beautiful outfit for five minutes.

6) Order take out or have someone cook for you.

7) Stay in bed all day!

8) Delegate an unpleasant task to someone else for once. You don't have to do everything yourself.

9) Take a nice long bath or shower.

10) Make plans to see your favorite friend or relative in January.

11) Crank up the music and dance.

12) Repeat any of these ideas when needed. Preferably weekly.

Have a wonderful Friday and weekend!

Romantic Vignette #10: Tempie

Tempie Wilson could hear the audience. She had heard La Baker, herself, is here tonight to see her sing. No, they hadn't come for shy Tempie she reminded herself. They had come to see Tiger Lily, the newest black sensation, in Berlin.  She smiled as she finished putting on her berry lipstick. Tiger Lily would give them a show they never forget.

Stage Fright

Happy Tuesday, everyone. I have been
watching a lot of movies lately. Here
is another gem I found.

It is Stage Fright (1950) directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
Starring Jane Wyman, Marlene Dietrich and Michael Wilding.
(I have been on a Marlene Dietrich kick, so she may
pop up again in another post.)

It is a delightful thriller. I know putting
these two words together may be odd. It is right
for this film.

Jane Wyman (who is full of sweetness and charm)
is acting student Eve Gill. Her friend who she in
love with Jonathan (Richard Todd) is running from the cops
for murder. He has been having an affair with stage star Charlotte
Inwood (Marlene Dietrich. Eve hides him out
with her eccentric dad (the wonderful Alastir Sim.)
Eve takes into her head the only way to save him
is to use her acting skills and go undercover
to work for Charlotte. To get evidence that that she killed
her husband and framed Jonathan for it.

Oh, there is so much more fun. Throw in the charming
Detective Smith (played by Michael Wilding.) Now enters
a love triangle. This is Hitchcock after all.
You get beautiful shots, lighting, a great story,
wonderful actors and a lot of merry thrills
throw in.

To tell you more would spoil the movie. Of course,
I have the trailer for you. If you have never seen it,
please go watch it. Even if your not a Hitchcock fan,
you will enjoy it.

Now on to the trailer..

December Full Moon

Our final Autumn Full Moon shines in lively Gemini.  All my sun and moon sign Geminis this is your moon.

Gemini energy to me is full of ideas, dazzling energy and a touch of zaniess. Since we are winding down on 2014, take time to write down all the great things you accomplished this year. Life can move so swiftly we can forget all the brave and wondrous things we have accomplished this year.

You can also utilize the creative energy to write down your ideas and dreams for 2015. It can be as small and big as you want.

Here is a picture of my notebook that I use for all my creative ideas and dreams for my life. It's a regular composition notebook that I covered with pictures then covered with invisible tape. Every time I look at it, I'm inspired to write in it.

Keeping your ideas handwritten ensures when your computer/tablet crashes, you will still have your work.

Since the energy of the Full Moon stays around for another day, start your own creative notebook. Even if you only cut, assemble or draw art for the cover of your creative book, that's a great start.

As always, do whatever you feel guided to do under a Full Moon.

Have a wonderful Full Moon and weekend.

New Loves

Hello, my friends. I hope this post finds all of you well and healthy. I know the holiday season can make people feel sometimes forced cheerfulness or living up to a fantasy version of what the holidays should be. Celebrate the holiday season in what feels authentic to you. Remember giving and receiving are both beautiful ways to enjoy this time of year.

I have a tendency to fall in love with books, TV series, actors, clothes. Once I fall in love, I am hooked.

Some loves last a lifetime: Star Wars and Mark Hamill. Others flit in and out. Long time loves for TV: Supernatural, Criminal Minds, Scandal, Sleepy Hollow. ( I am behind in some episodes, I can spend the Christmas Holiday catching up.) I have new loves to share with you.

1) Harry O (1974  -1976) starring David Janssen is on Warner Archive.
I always liked David Janssen, who is best known for The Fugitive TV series. I remember watching Harry O as a little girl. It is great to see the series as an adult. David Janssen plays Harry with the right amount of gruff, charm and heart. He is a retired cop who works as a private eye. No matter how bad things get, Harry still cares. I'm half way through Season 1.

2) Betty Neels.
Betty was a nurse who became a romance writer. She wrote over 130 books. I got hooked reading Dearest Mary Jane that I got from my local library. Her books are sweet, filled with warmth, great descriptions of homes, family and food.  Seriously, the dishes eaten are mouthwatering. The plots are usually similar. The heroine is plain, plucky and resourceful; or, pretty, plucky and resourceful. The hero is always a big man, Dutch, annoying at times , a doctor and drive a Rolls Royce. The settings are a lot of times set in hospitals. There is only tender kisses exchanged. No hot and heavy scenes. They are great gentle reads.  If you are a Betty Neels fan, let me know in the comments.

Well, my friends I have rambled on enough. Have a great day.  See you right back here in a day or two.

Welcome December...

If she had been the Mistletoe
And I had been the Rose -
How gay upon your table
My velvet life to close -
Since I am of the Druid,
And she is of the dew -
I'll deck Tradition's buttonhole -
And send the Rose to you.
- Emily Dickinson
