Dreamy Thursday : Trees

Happy Dreamy Thursday.

I'm sure I will spend a Dreamy Thursday
on Flowers soon, today I have to honor
Trees. They are all around us even if you live
deep in the city.

Trees clean the air, provide shelter
from rain and sun, homes for animals
and insects, provide us with fruit.
Trees are alive to me. Sentient beings.
Perhaps, they don't talk like we do; Trees
communicate in their own ways.

Have you ever hugged a Tree? Seriously, If you have
then you understand. If not, give it a try. Yes,
you may feel shy doing it. If you hug a Tree,
you can feel the Tree's energy flowing into
you. Like SARK says, it's as if the Tree is
hugging is you back. You can also put your
hand on a tree and feel the energy that way. When
I'm outside, I do that as well. It looks
like I'm leaning on the Tree, so no one
looks at me twice.

I always like to ask permission first. How
will you know if the Tree says yes, you'll
get a warm feeling inside your tummy. Each
Tree has a different energy. Some are quiet,
happy, giggly, strong, juicy, zany.
When you are done, say Thank you. You can
also include a small offering as well.
I like to leave shiny pennies or nickels.

When I'm feeling sad, which I'm sure Ive
shared here before, I have a special Grove
where I go to feel better. I sit among the Trees
with a book, music and talk to them.
Trees have great energy. Being around them,
cleans you out of any heaviness/negativity
you have inside.

From Oak to Pine to Elm to Apple to Birch
Trees. They are our Friends. Today, if you
see a Tree. Say hello. Give them a hug.

Reflections in a Golden Eye

I've always been intrigued by Reflection in
a Golden Eye (1967)
because Elizabeth Taylor originally
wanted it for her and Montgomery Clift to star in.
Just thinking about them doing this, I could
imagine how wonderful it would of been.

Sadly, Monty died a few months before shooting
began. Then, Marlon Brando signed on to do the
film. Finally, this week I got a chance to watch
it.

Reflections in a Golden Eye is based on a
novel by Carson McCullers. This 1967 film directed
by John Huston, stars Elizabeth Taylor
as Lenora Penderton married to Major
Weldon Penderton (Marlon Brando).Lenora is having
an affair with Lt. Col. Langdon (Brian Keith)
who is dealing with his wife Alison (Julie Harris)
depressed over a miscarriage three years ago.
Weldon (Marlon Brando) is obsessed with a young
Private ( a very young Robert Forster). This film
is full of longing, sexual repression and madness.

It is an odd and interesting film. If you like
your dramas with Southern Gothic flavor,
then you'll love Reflections in a Golden Eye.
Elizabeth Taylor is full of power and
sultriness. Marlon Brando is raw and vulnerable
in a way I never seen him before. I also have
to give love to the always wonderful Julie Harris.

Here's the original trailer for you.

P.S. Look out for the scene with Elizabeth in
a beautiful white dress and her riding crop in
hand!!

Celebrate your Beauty

Happy Monday, everyone.
Every morning, I pull a Tarot
and Goddess card. I felt inspired
to share the Goddess card for Monday.
Aprhodite from Doreen Virtue's
Goddess Oracle Cards.

There is a Goddess in every woman. Today be
a Love Goddess for yourself.

Put on something that makes you feel Beautiful,
Radiant and Strong.

Look in the mirror say "I'm a Beautiful Woman."

Go to the Ocean today and let yourself be guided to
find something there that calls to you.
(Aphrodite is also an Ocean Goddess.)

Find five things you really love about your body.
I'll start off: I love my eyes, legs, breasts,
hair and hands.

If you are trying to catch the attention of a potential
partner, don't pursue them. Imagine you are Aphrodite.
Aphrodite doesn't chase anyone. She allows they to chase
her.

Wishing you all a Beauty filled Monday.

Dreamy Thursday : The Red Dress

Happy Dreamy Thursday, everyone.
My life has been intense, which is
why this post is late. I couldn't miss
sharing what makes me dreamy with all of you.
Today's Dreamy Thursday is The Red Dress.

There is one fashion quest that consumes me.
Some women look for the perfect black
dress. For me, it's the perfect Red Dress.
With Spring on, I'm resuming my search.

The color red has so many connotations:
Danger, passion, sex, power, boldness.
When I think of the color of Red, for me it means
romantic interludes, freedom and adventure.

I feel every woman should have one Red Dress.
It's doesn't mean it has to be a sexy one.
A Red Dress can be elegant, demure, or innocent.

My ideal color is a Fire engine red.
If Red appears too much for you. Remember there
are many shades of Red from Rose to Sangria to
Wine. Somewhere out there, your Red Dress is
waiting for you.

For Spring, let yourself shine. Don't be an Extra in your own life.
Be the Star that you are. Put the Black, Silver
or Brown Dress back just this once. Be Red for a Day!

If you love Dreamy Thursday here,
you can be part of it. I'm opening
Swan of Dreamers to Guest Bloggers.
Email me at Jettswan@gmail.com for
all the info. Wishing all of you
a very Dreamy Red Thursday.

A Blue Wednesday with Elizabeth

I'm having a Blue Wednesday. I woke
up with a stuffy nose and headache. Ugh.
No rest for the weary today. One of my
bests is directing a free reading of Romeo
and Juliet here in NYC
. I have to go
out. Then I found out Elizabeth Taylor died
today.

With her violet eyed Beauty and fiery
strength, Elizabeth has lived many incarnations.
In her later years, she is known best for
her White Diamonds perfume and her wonderful
work raising millions for AIDS Research.

I wanted to pop in to talk about the movies
I love best by her. Now, I haven't seen
all of her movies. On my must see list is
Who's Afraid of Virgina Woolf (which she
won her second Oscar for) and Reflections
in an Golden Eye with Marlon Brando.
If you want to know why Elizabeth Taylor
has endured all these years and what has
made her a good actor, these are my favorites.

For a young Elizabeth Taylor:

National Velvet (1944)
Little Women (1949)

Two of the trilogy of films she made
with Montgomery Clift.Monty and liz
Elizabeth said working with Monty in A Place in The Sun
inspired her to become a better actor.
And to take acting seriously.
A Place in The Sun (1950)
Suddenly, Last Summer (1959)

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1957) with Paul Newman
Butterfield 8 (1960) (She won her first Oscar with this film.)
The Sandpiper (1965) with Richard Burton.
(This is on my personal list of remakes.)
Taming of the Shrew (1967) with Richard Burton (Merry Fun!)
Boom (1968)with Richard again. (For pure camp, location and costumes.)

"I believe in mind over matter and doing anything
you set your mind on - Elizabeth Taylor.

Does anyone remember when she was on General Hospital?
She played Helena Casadine. The Casadine Family were
The supervillians on GH back in the 80's.

I can't end this post to Elizabeth. Without sharing
one of my favorite scenes from A Place in The Sun.
I like to think now she can dance with Monty, Richard
and all the others she loved. Up there among the Stars.

The Seed Moon

Dance my friends.
For the Full Moon shines bright
tonight.

Lady Luna has many names for
a March full moon. The seed moon
fits for Spring comes tomorrow.
Soon, we will see the seeds of
the earth as she wakes up from her
slumber. Life will grown again.

The Full Moon in Virgo is full of
earth energy. You can:

Light green candles.
Take the night to rest and go to
bed early.
Plan nourishing food for your week.
Put old plants in new pots to grow more.
Throw out your old spices, buy new ones.
Spend time planning how to attract more
money into your life.
Pay off an old debt.
Bake something as a gift for a loved one.
Buy a new pair of shoes.
Make a vow to visit more gardens.
Adopt a piece of a local park and spend
time getting to know it through all the
seasons.

Ah, there is much to do on a Full
Moon. Most importantly, do what feels
right to you.

If you can't do something special
tonight, The energy of the Full moon
lasts for another day.

Wishing you all a Happy Full Moon.

Dreamy Thursday : Clouds

Happy Dreamy Thursday.
Today's post is all
about one of our true beauties that
most people take for granted.
Clouds. Did you know that clouds are
tiny droplets of water or ice crystals? They
are so light they float.

For me, Clouds are like moving
art in the sky. Do remember
as a kid, looking at the sky
and finding shapes in the clouds?
I still do that from time to time.
The other day, one of the clouds
looked like a big dog.

When I'm stressed, I sit in a chair
or lay on my bed. I watch the clouds.
Let my thoughts sail by, as the clouds
fill my mind with beautiful calmness.
Meditation for free. All you need
is a window view.
Clouds
I'm not alone with my love of Clouds.
How many poets have celebrated those
glorious clouds.

THE CLOUD by Sara Teasdale (1884-1933)

I AM a cloud in the heaven's height,
The stars are lit for my delight,
Tireless and changeful, swift and free,
I cast my shadow on hill and sea--
But why do the pines on the mountain's crest
Call to me always, "Rest, rest?"

I throw my mantle over the moon
And I blind the sun on his throne at noon,
Nothing can tame me, nothing can bind,
I am a child of the heartless wind--
But oh the pines on the mountain's crest
Whispering always, "Rest, rest."

You can adore clouds at all hours.
Watch clouds dance
with the Sunshine or peekaboo
with the moon. Do you like them fluffy,
wavy or wispy? Perhaps you like
clouds with a hint of color in them?
A dash of purple or pink?

Have you ever been in an airplane
and flown through the clouds. It is
an amazing experience.
Being up there in the sky, you feel like you
could just touch them.

Perhaps, your thinking Shell is
a bit too mad over Clouds. Then I am in
good company. Check out
The Cloud Appreciation Society

There is nothing dreamier than
clouds. So today or tonight,
look up at the sky. Spend
time with the clouds.

Oceans...

Happy Monday.

When I heard about the Tsunami hitting Japan, I sat down
and prayed. Praying that the ones who passed went
quickly without fear and pain. And that the survivors
will find comfort and love as they grieve and rebuild
their lives.

Even if you can't donate money to relief efforts in
Japan and other places hit by the Tsunami, this
doesn't mean your powerless. Praying for
healing and love for the survivors is just as important.
Think about your prayer multiplied by thousands and millions.
That force of good energy can manifest in ways
you could never imagine. That manifestation can
include money, clothes, new homes, etc for all of
the survivors. I believe that. We are energy clothed in
physical bodies.

Dreamy Thursday :Candles

Happy Dreamy Thursday. It is
one of my favorite Rainy days here
in the city. So I'm reveling in
the beautiful grayness of the day.
This week's Dreamy Thursday is on
candles.

My love affair with candles
started from two candles my mom
had in our kitchen. She had these
beautiful ivory candles in elegant
gold candle holders. My mom never
lit the candles. I asked her to
but she said she liked them for
decoration only.

I was fascinated. I decided when
I was older, I get candles to use
no matter how pretty they are.
When I graduated from college,
I began to buy candles and light them.
Candles fed my romantic nature.
As my spirituality evolved, my bond
with candles grew deeper. They
helped me to connect with The Divine deeper.

Now, having candles is a priority
in my life. I stock up when I can.
So I can always have candles to light.
I light my candles all times day and night.
Candles don't have to be just for the evening!

When I can, I buy nice candles
from Marshalls or a Bontanica shop near
me. In a pinch, I purchase small novena candles
at my local grocery for a dollar. The
candle sits on my altar and gives my
whole bedroom a beautiful glow.

Here are the list of candle colors that
I use in my prayers, ritual, mantras.

White: all purpose for whatever you need.
Blue: healing, spirit, blue sky thinking,
moon, Monday
Red: passion, love, energy, strength, Tuesday
Green: healing, fertility, money, plants/flowers,
Thursday
Pink: healing, love, friendship, fertility, Friday
Yellow&Orange:wealth, sunshine, optimism, strength,
healing, Sunday, Wednesday
Black: banishing, releasing negativity, protection,
Saturday
Gray/Silver: protection, dreamtime, the moon, Monday
Purple: spirit, royalty, wealth, Thursday

If you haven't lit a candle for
a while, get one over the weekend.
See how it feels. If you love to be
part of Dreamy Thursday, I'm opening
Swan of Dreamers to Guest Bloggers.
Email me at Jettswan@gmail.com for
all the info. Wishing all of you
a very Dreamy Thursday.

Dreamy Thursday : Mori Girls

Happy Dreamy Thursday and Happy March.
I can feel that Spring energy starting up.
So looking forward to Spring.

This Dreamy Thursday is on Mori Girls style.
The Mori Girl Style comes from Japan. If you
look at the clothes, for me they harken back
to fairy tales, victorian era and vintage
romantic style. Mori comes from the Japanese word "Forest".
Literally it means Girl from The Forest.

It's all about layering clothes with soft
and earthy colors including colors of whites, greens
browns and blues. Using aprons, ribbons, flowers, shawls,
hats, scarves, lace, granny boots and slippers. Your
makeup natural and easy.

What caught my eye when I first saw it, it
reminded me of my love of long flowing skirts
and romantic looking fashion. When I look
at Mori Girl style I think of the lovely
clothes from Magnolia Pearl and of Tasha Tudor.

Mori Girls is a life choice for some. With technology
speeding along, sometimes you want to get
back to simpler things. Where you create with
your hands, read from an actual book and
spend time out in nature. For more inspiration,
check out morigirl.blogspot.com

If you want to adapt a Mori Girl look
for yourself. Remember layers, skirts and
anything that makes you feel romantic.
I'm sure there is a bit of a Mori Girl in
everywoman. BTW, all these lovely pictures
I found online.

If you like to write a guest post here at Swan of Dreamers
on what makes you feel Dreamy. Please e-mail me at
Jettswan@gmail.com for all the details.
It can be on any topic. I love to have you here.
Wishing you a Mori Girl Dreamy Thursday.
