A Walk With Love and Death

Thank you all for your wishes
on me getting well soon. I'm
still not well yet. I'm on the
mend.

Last week on The Fox Movie
channel, I saw: A Walk with
Love and Death
directed by John
Huston in 1969.What drew me to the film,
it marks the film debut of Anjelica
Huston. Who was only 17 years old at
the time. I'm always fascinated to
see an actor's film debut. Even though
it's her first effort, you can see
the flashes of the strong Academy Award
winning actor she would become.

The film is set in France during
Hundred Years war. A student
named Heron (Assi Dayan) wants
to see the Sea. The tide of war
brings him to a chance encounter
to a noblewoman named Claudia
(Anjelica Huston). Under the
constant threat of war, their
love blooms.

Here is a trailer for you. Enjoy.
I'll be back on Sunday for my
400th post.

Monday

Caught a nasty stomach virus, so I'm down
for the count. I'll be back on Wednesday.

In the meantime, listen to an oldie but
goodie from Kool and The Gang for some
inspiration for your week.

Lady Sings The Blues

I was delighted when Lady Sings The Blues
came on TCM. I haven't seen it in years,
it's been on my list for movies to see again.

It's a memorable film for many reasons. It
marks the film debut of Diana Ross. She is
simply wonderful in this movie. She's
beautiful, soulful, vulnerable,
glamorous as Billie.

Lady Sings The Blues as a story is not
totally accurate on Lady Day's life.
That film still needs to be made. The
strength of Lady Sings The Blues is to
me not only Billie's music throught
out, the love between Billie Holiday
(Diana Ross)and Louis McKay (Billy Dee
Williams). Diana and Billy Dee light up
the screen together. Which is why
they were reteamed together in 1975
for Mahogany.

When Diana Ross first sees Billy Dee
and goes wow! So did I!! The man is
gorgeous. I was drooling. That smile,
that walk and that voice. Billy Dee
oozes charm, heart and passion.

I can go and on. I'm sure you all get
the point. An extra treat, is Richard
Pryor as The Piano Man. He did amazing
job in his role, too. There is also
appearances by Scatman Crothers and
Isabel Sandford right before her
Jeffersons fame.

Of course, here is a trailer for you:

Here is some Oscar Trivia: Lady Sings The
Blues was nominated for five Oscars.
Diana receiving a nomination for Best
Actress in 1972 along with Cicely Tyson
for Best Actress for Sounder in the same
year.

Do yourself a favor, enjoy two hours
with Diana Ross and Billy Dee. You'll
get swept away too.

Wednesday

Happy Wednesday.

Hope everyone had a happy Valentine's
Day. I had a great day. I had a ball
running around Flushing, Queens with
Anakin. We went to the Chinatown in
Flushing. I love going to Chinatown,
it's like stepping into another world
right in your own backyard.
We kept running into people dressed up
as beautiful Tigers celebrating
The Chinese New Year. We had yummy
spicy fish balls; also, the best
fries I've had in a long time.

Has anyone who has done a word
for the year notice their word
following them? I see and hear
the word Breakthrough all the time.
I get a cosmic reminder to stay
on point. I love it.

I'll be back tomorrow with a post
on a new favorite romantic movie
of mine that I rediscovered.

Have a happy Wednesday.

Love

Love. Love is a noun and a verb.
Love can be a person, place
or thing.
Love can be action we do.

This is dictionary meaning I found for
Love as a noun:

1. A profoundly tender, passionate affection
for another person.
2. A feeling of warm personal attachment or
deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend.

Love as a verb:
1. To have love or affection for.

Valentine's Day is on Sunday. This day
is a celebration for all forms of Love.
Not just the swooning romantic love.

So be Love, share Love, express Love,
do Love, think Love, give Love. Don't
forget to Love yourself, too.

I will be back on Valentine's Day
for more Love for you.

Snow Day!

It's a Snow Day! Remember as a kid it
was like Christmas. I feel Snow Days can
be the same as an adult.

I had errands to do earlier which meant
me braving the snow. I did feel
like I was Luke Skywalker on the ice
planet Hoth. It is beautiful out there.
The quiet in the streets, the pure white
of the snow. The mist that came in and
out gave outside an otherworldly feel to it.

Now, I'm snug in my place. I'm going to
stay in and do fun Snow days activities.

Here are fun things to do:

Bake cookies

Make hot chocolate from scratch

Take naps

Run outside for 15 minutes to write
messages in the snow. I did, I wrote Love

Watch your favorite movies

Catch up on your reading

Write or play in your journals

Make lists of dream places, meals
and people you like to experience

Paint your nails or color your hair

Begin the first pages of your novel
idea running around in your head

Enjoy your Snow Day. Most importantly,
have fun.

Dreamthought #26

Far away in the sunshine are my highest
aspirations. I may not reach them,
but I can look up and see the beauty,
believe in them and try to follow
where they lead.

Thursday and Chi McBride Love

My favorite day of the week: Thursday is
finding me feeling edgy. I've been working
hard all week and I feel like it's catching
up with me. Being edgy doesn't allow me
to flow properly.

Today I've been watching a slew of shows
I recored: Moment of Luxury, Secret Diary
of a Call Girl. Later on, some Criminal
Minds.

I am in the mood for some Chi McBride
love. Here's a funny scene from Pushing
Daisies with the funny Chi and Kristin
Chenoweth. Their characters Emerson and Olive
were wonderful together. I always wished
they had more episodes with them
as the leads. I love my Pushing Daisies.
On the list for must have DVD sets.

Enjoy.

Happy February

January has come and gone! My word is
breakthrough for 2010. I have been taking
this word seriously.

I went to the Actors' Fund in Manhattan
yesterday. It's a resource for actors to
network, find work and be connected to
other actors.

By nature, I'm not a big group person. I am
glad I went, though the orientation was
too long. Doing things like this is going to
help me breakthrough and get to the next
level for myself as an artist and a person.

What about all of you? Are you following
your word or words for the month? Looking
at your list of things you want accomplished
this year.

People say this all the time. It is true
we are the CEO's of our own lives. The
only way to get Shell, Inc. to be successful
is for me to to do it. That means stretching
out and doing new things.

Don't forget I'm tweeting and
twittering. Join in on the fun with me.
I must admit I prefer twitter to facebook.
That's just me, everyone has their preferred
method of being in this online universe.

For my old romantic movie lovers, please
watch TCM at 6:45pm today for One Way Passage.
It's a new favorite starring William Powell
and Kay Francis from 1932.

If your interested in my mystical side, you
can read my card of the month.

All the Oscar buzz is revved up today.
Big congrats to Morgan, Gabby and Mo'Nique
for their nominations.

I'll be back tomorrow for a fun post.
